About Us

Fun With Music Classes have been engaging with children in the Richmond area since 2002 and delighting them with their first introduction to music!

Classes are open to Parents and Carers and their children from the age of 9 months up to 5 years.  You can expect a very warm and gentle environment where you and your child can nurture their in-born musical abilities.

Fun With Music classes have a good mix of ages, and are 45 minutes long.  Each session is completely music based - either accompanied on the piano or with unaccompanied singing. The structure of the classes have a format that give children a secure platform for learning - always starting  with a 'hello' song at the beginning of the session, and ending with a 'goodbye' song. The classes use a combination of finger plays, action songs, puppets, rhythmic movement, percussion instruments, colourful scarves and other props to help establish basic rhythm and to encourage each child in their growth and development. It usually takes about 3 sessions for children to settle into a new class.

Founder and Owner

I started teaching music in 1988 and have specialised in teaching children using principles based on Kodaly and Dalcroze teaching methods. Over the years I have had many musical roles: teaching general music in various schools and nurseries, Director of Music at Duke Street Church, teaching piano and singing and directing choirs and orchestras. In addition to Fun with Music classes, I currently teach piano in both local schools as well as at my own studio. I am also an avid choir member and enjoy singing with the Thames Philharmonic Choir.
